Next is an adaptor plate, a quarter inch chunk of aluminum should work great, had to raid a machine shops trash bin for this one. You start by making a template. A piece of cardboard and a ball pein hammer have always worked great for me. Simply lay the cardboard on the bottom of the old carburetor and gently tap the edges with the hammer untill the excess falls away. Then repeat this procedure for the new carburetor, making sure you have clearance for your linkages, and the hole of the new carburetor still has something to breath through. I use the template as a gasket when I am finished.

Then simply place the cardboard template on the chunk of aluminum and trace around it with a magic marker. I used a sawzall to cut it to size. Then using the template again I marked the holes to drill them. Clean the burrs off, one adaptor plate

I mounted the new carburetor to the adaptor plate using the longest bolts I could get away with. I don't like things dangling over an open manifold, as that is just an invitation to disaster in my book. Anyhow the longer the bolt the less of a chance of it ending up in the piston chamber. And you can see I used a healthy piece of tin, bending up the edges to secure my bolts from loosening instead of lock washers. Again I chose this because of it's size, lock washers are small and have a tendency to break, definite piston flounder.

Bolt the adaptor plate down and attach the fuel line, and this Opel GT is ready for a new flavor of food, Propane. A quick wire to a toggle switch under the dash board wired to power the shut down solenoid on the fuel in line, and she should be able to fire.

Hook up a temporary fuel tank and she runs like a champ, good acceleration range, but no idle. The forklift probably had an idle adjusting bolt on the acceleration peddle. There is a screw on the old governor, but nothing for it to adequately adjust against. So this seems like the next hurtle, and while we're at it, the motor has a knock. Sounds like the fan hitting something, but I don't see what, regardless, gotta find that noise.
